1. Who is responsible
The controller for the processing described here is [Company name], [street, postal code, city, country], operating Peerfield. Contact for privacy matters: hello@peerfield.app. [Data protection officer, if appointed].
2. What we collect
- Your email address — when you ask us to send a peer map, sign in, buy a Complete Peer Map, or subscribe.
- The channel URL you submit — and the public information about that channel we look up to research it.
- Technical logs — request timestamps, the page requested, browser type, and a hashed IP address. We store the salted hash, not the address itself, to enforce fair-use limits and investigate abuse.
- Product usage events — which step of the flow you reached (for example that a result was viewed or the unlock button was clicked), linked to your job or account.
- Billing data — handled by our payment provider; we keep the status of your one-time purchases and of any subscription, plus the customer reference, never card numbers.
3. Why we use it
- To research and deliver the peer map you requested and to send you the link by email.
- To operate your account, your purchases and any subscription, including sign-in links and billing notices.
- To keep the service secure and fair: rate limits, abuse detection, error diagnosis.
- To understand which steps of the product work and which do not, in aggregate.
- To send product news — only if you opted in (see section 9).
4. Legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — delivering the peer map, fulfilling a one-time Complete Peer Map purchase, and running your account and any subscription.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — security, abuse prevention, technical logs, aggregate product analytics. You may object at any time.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — marketing email. Withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link or your settings.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — retention of invoices and tax records.
5. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Analysis jobs (channel, email, result link) | 12 months after completion, or until you delete your account |
| Product usage events and technical logs | 24 months |
| Account, purchases and subscription | For the life of the account; anonymised on deletion |
| Invoices | As required by tax law ([10 years]) |
6. Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers under data-processing agreements:
- Hosting — [provider, region]: runs the application and database.
- Email delivery — [email provider]: sends result links, sign-in links and, with consent, marketing email.
- Payments — [payment provider]: checkout, invoicing, one-time purchases and subscription management. Card data goes to the provider directly and never reaches us.
- Bot protection — a verification step may load from [bot-protection provider] only after repeated submissions from the same network.
Where a provider is outside the EU/EEA, transfers rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. [Confirm per provider].
7. Your rights
You can access, export, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. Signed-in users can request an export or deletion from Settings; anyone can write to hello@peerfield.app. We answer within one month. You may also complain to your supervisory authority ([competent authority]).
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies only, which is why there is no cookie banner: a sign-in cookie once you sign in, and — only if you arrive through a link that asks for a particular version of the start page — a preference cookie that keeps that version consistent while you browse. The preference cookie holds a single letter, is not tied to you, and is deleted when you close your browser. Simply opening the start page stores nothing. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and no cookie is used to recognise you across sites or visits.
9. Marketing email
Transactional email (your result link, sign-in links, billing notices) is part of the service. Marketing email is separate and sent only if you opted in. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing never affects transactional mail.
10. Public sources and peer data
The peer maps we produce are built from public information: channel pages, public ad libraries, landing pages and offers. They describe channels and businesses, not private individuals' viewing behaviour. If you are the owner of a channel or brand and want a correction, contact us.
11. Changes to this policy
We update this page when our processing changes and show the date at the top. Material changes for account holders are announced by email.
